She's also playing with the same doubles partner - Carolina Meligeni Rodrigues ALVES (BRA) and they are 4th seeds. Have a bye into the QF. Last week they only reached the QF, but did win a match to get there.
The Uzbek giant has dominated the first set with Emily to take it 6-2, but Em has managed to get an early break in the second.. Now how long can she hold.
Well, Emily is a fighter, as has been said before... but in the 7th game ultimately to no avail. She saved 7 BPs in the game, including from 0-40 down, but after having only 1 GP herself she succumbed on the 8th BP to return to level serve. Now she has saved a MP to bring the score back to parity 2nd set 5-5.
Edit: Oh, got that the wrong way round... Emily was broken again so that Akgul served for the match, had one MP, but then Emily successfully broke back... now is serving to make it .. and has held after another deuce game 6-5*

Glad you've seen some signs, Indi, because they weren't there when she won that match at Chiswick recently. That was a right mix of good, bad and ugly.
But the scorelines are improving a bit, even if the results are slow to come.

Emily+ lost their QF by 6-4 6-2 and being a bye it's only one ranking point.

She's still very young but there must be a few concerns about her ability to get to the next level, whatever that may be.
Hasn't she won just 4 matches at levels higher than 15K and lost something like 24? Yet her performances at the lowest levels are encouraging and results decent.
Important couple of years ahead of her if she is to fulfil her potential.
