Sam has arrived in China following her victory at Chiswick. She is not seeded, which I'm surprised at since she was 8th on the acceptance list, but she has a qualifier first up, so won't complain.
Yeah, Katie S's recent conqueror Dabin Kim looks to have scuppered Sam's seeding chances after winning that recent US W60. Looks like this is her first tournament since that triumph so will be quite interesting to see how she gets on - Sam could face her in the QF. Can't imagine there'd be too many times someone originally getting in as an IR would go on to be a seed in the draw.
The big test comes up next for Sam; her first round win was not relatively close, but the next match will be tighter still. Hope she has acclimatised now.
Sam's live 180 points would have her back in the top 300 at WR 294 on the current rankings list.
Bit to go yet though until the 09/09 rankings including possible further points for her here and in next week's 60K.
It's back in 2014 when she was last even in the top 300, for a player with a CH 165. I do so hope that she can stay fit and healthy and continue on the up.
