The same three - Emilie, Ola and Kasia - should be in the MD, but this week they've been joined by Eliz Maloney, who is in qualifying. Just the one round to negotiate, and as long as she has acclimatised she should fancy her chances.

Eliz qualified easily, MD now also out with 4 GB players. Emilie is 2nd seed this week. Favourable draws for all the players for the first round really, Eliz gets a fellow qualifier. She has a single, 1 pt counter from Sharm from last Nov, so if she wins this first round match it will be her second counter.

In the doubles all 4 are playing. Emilie is top seed with Madeline Kobelt (USA) again. They were also top seeds last week but only reached the QF, so will hope to do better this.

The Pitak sisters didn't play doubles last week, but this week are back and are the 2nd seeds.

Eliz is playing with Shatoo Mohamad (USA) and they play the BRA/GUA 3rd seeds.

Updated first round scores thus far. Ola makes it through again for another point, will play the qualifier who has just beaten Eliz next. Emilie has the last singles match, on later.

Pitak the Younger has played a lot of tournaments, and made the QFs of a 15k at least 4 times, but this is the first time she's got to the semis.

So big congrats to her and good luck against Shimizu who, on paper, is very playable.
