The ATP has today announced how the rankings will be determined over the next few months, and how the race to London will be resolved. Going to take a bit of examination to work out what effect it has.
Immediate thought is that we can ditch any idea of Dan qualifying for london finals. It will be based on the 22 month rankings now and Dan will drop back to 28th as opposed to 11th.
Not sure how they'll treat the doubles race , the singles race is effectively abandoned in favour of the rankings. But doubles presumably will be different?

"The FedEx ATP Doubles Team Rankings, reflecting only results earned by teams in 2020 prior to 9 November, will be used for Nitto ATP Finals doubles qualification."
Am I reading this right? So Nadal is guaranteed 4000 points from US and French even if he loses first round of both?
Surely if you play the event that result should count.
best of 2019 or 2020 counts and then it's the best 18 overall over 22 months to make up your counters. So nadal gains here with that rule. If he wins paris he should head back to top. Same madrid and rome of course. Nadal the big winner here.
How will 2020 events played after the Tour resumption count toward a players ranking? Players can use the best result from 2019 or 2020 from the same Tour-level event (if played after the Tour resumption). If a player's 2019 result is better than his 2020 result, his 2020 result will not be included in his ranking breakdown.
