Rankings

Since 30/08 the total points has fallen from 325,714 to 315,160. The ATP policy of getting rid of 2019/20 points is beginning to bite. I expect fewer players and about 38-40 countries by year end

From Strongest Nation.

Edited for stupid typo. disbelief

Interesting. Really has had a bad impact on players who have played well but not made much of climb as they would normally.

It will impact most on those who are still not playing. Also on those who are defending big points. This week the number of ranked players went up but the total of points was down..

At the top end, Jay back into the top 200.
And Liam into the top 140.
Second week on the trot of a new CH for Ryan P.
Paul Jubb is nearly back in the top 400 (which should happen next week).
2002-born Arthur moves into the top 700.
Felix (2002) also posts a new CH but that figure will be irrelevant next week when the 15k finalist places go on.
A big rise and CH for Blu Baker (2001) too.

NB There are lots of little ticks up, some giving new CHs, but I don't note them if the person didn't actually play.

Top 300 and main upward movers

23 (=) Dan Evans (CH)

Focusing on those who played, great rise for Liam.

Also, in the top 500, nice new CH for Paul Jubb (and also Ryan P and Evo).

In the 500-1000 slot, mega rises and new CH for Ali Gray, and Felix (new CH for Arthur too).
Ryan S back in the top 1000.
Welcome to the rankings to Emile Hudd too.

So the end of September graphs.  Unlike the women, the top end of the UK placings remains remarkedly static. Although, congratulations to Paul who makes it into the GB Top10.  At the other end, it is far busier, with the stand out this month being Alastair's jump into the Top25, landing at #22.  Ryan also makes it back into the Top25 for the first time since March.

Still 14 Brits in the singles top 500.

But recently much more cause for optimism about possible future top 500ers with such as Ali Gray, Gill, Fery and Whitehouse showing up well. Maybe Parker and Hoyt could pick up too, and hopefully Storrie can have an injury free run and significantly rise up further.

The but to the but is though that's quite a few to come together and meantime the inactive Ward, Choinski and Klein threaten in time to drop out of the top 500. Indeed for Klein that time will be next Monday as he has 6 points to drop.

So net net Bob's '20 in the top 500' may be a while off yet.

Joe seems to be 4th now, in live rankings, swapping with Rajeev despite being on the same points - presumably based on some countback rule? Joe is however playing this week, so it looks like he will go back into 3rd place if he and Neal have a decent week together?

I've given up monitoring the subsequent changes...... I do it when the new rankings and points come out on Monday. And then leave them to fiddle about with it on Tuesday, Wednesday etc...

(ATP isn't as bad a ITF though.....)

Cam up 2 based on his IW final.

And Ali Gray being the main story, as his second 25k title goes on.

Indeed, it's 'US college players' week, with not only Cam and Ali, but Henry Patten making the top 1000 and Dan Little & Finn posting decent jumps.
