Good to see the girls out in force. A lot of them have no points to cover - so it could be a good week smile

The person missing and in the Week 30 entries is Gabi. No sign of where she will pick up next post-Wimbledon. This is a time of year she often goes missing, but now she could really do with some points and upward momentum and so hope she will resume again soon.

Pity Gabi isn't playing - she'd have got in to some of the bigger tournaments, or been seeded in most of the W25's for the week. No sign of her in the following week's lists either.

Yes, I know she's had some injury issues, but considering Gabi had a breakthrough season last year, I've found her whole scheduling this year very weird. She's hardly played any of the places where she was successful last year. She's gone missing for large chunks when it looks like she should be playing - like over the next few weeks. It's not as though she's had a tiring grass court season, what's she had, about 4-5 matches? And when she has played it's been a random, eclectic mix of odd tournaments - I think she played 1 clay court tournament and then 1 carpet event in Europe in successive weeks, shortly before the grass season, which made no sense at all in their combination. I don't know how she's planning and who's managing her, but I've felt at least some of her drop this year has been simply as a result of really poor, strange scheduling.

Isn't Gabi injured? She posted a photo a few days ago in which she was sporting a boot.

So it would seem. I hadn't realised that as there didn't seem anything untoward when she reached the Wimbledon FQR. Oh well, hope she is back soon.

wrong week, Brydan plays week beginning 8th July, and someone has just reported that Jianu is in wimby juniors having beaten a Brit.

Yeah, I meant this week just got confused on dates.

Not true:  according to the player list on the Newport site, Alastair Gray (somewhat surprisingly, I'll give you that) should be in the main draw:

This is a special return to Newport for Gray, who was the men's champion at the Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational in 2017.
