GB next ladies prospect

Hi peeps, I'm new here and my first post is regarding GBs next female prospect. I watch lots of Tennis but only really on the mens side or during Grand Slam tournaments so don't really know who will be our next prospect other than Katie Boulter who had a good Australian Open campaign.

I have seen Emma Radacunu mentioned on here a lot so, is she likely to be a prospect ? I would appreciate it if one of the posters on here could list our prospective prospects and their strengths so that I have a better idea :).

Good thinking Batman, just I can't find it either at this point.

I had been thinking this was so difficult really for one person to come up with such a list and clearly subjective to an extent in that lists would probably vary a fair bit. But I had been reluctant to say anything less put anyone off at least giving it an initial go.

But yes an existing thread, even from maybe a little time back, with a range of thoughts, would be good if and when found. Certainly a very useful building block.

A few posts from here https://britishtennis.activeboard.com/t65224019/2019-rankings/?sort=oldestFirst&page=3#comment-65477815
Very easy to find in Google.

Maintaining a separate thread like this that can be updated from time to time would be a very useful reference thread for those of us who are less familiar with the junior scene.

It is the sort of emotive topic that gets a lot of people hot under the collar, but if someone who knows me as a friend or work colleague asked me, I would say that you are correct Tennis Saltire that Katie Boulter is our most exciting talent and the most likely to reach the top 32 rankings, but that there are a lot of reasons to be excited about Katie Swan and Harriet Dart- those three should all have careers in the top 100, injuries permitting, and Jodie Burrage, who will miss Wimbledon through illness is another decent prospect, although a little further away from that level at the moment.

I won't mention the pros and cons of every British player, as it is tiresome and unfair too on those who are still young and improving, but there are lots out there who have a reasonable ranking and may at some stage make the transition to better things - Francesca Jones, Maia Lumsden, Gabi Taylor, Eden Silva, Naiktha Bains would all be good examples. Anyone who comes through the qualies has the chance to do it this year, but it is a big ask to come through three tough matches against higher ranked players.

For the juniors, Emma is the one making the fastest progress at the moment - too early to judge her full potential, but the Wimbledon qualies will may give some idea of where she is at - a kind draw for her hopefully. She has been given a wildcard for that because she is such a great prospect, but since the start of the season, she hasn't played much, so it is difficult to judge exactly where she is at.

Agree with a lot of what Andy says.

We seem to go through cycles in British tennis. We have a year where a lot of players make huge progress, then the following year a lot of that falls away.

Katie S, Katy D, Naomi and Gabby have fallen on a bit of a hard time this year. Although Katy D seems to have started the climb back and Katie S has shown some good one off results. Hopefully after the grass court season circus Katie S can take the next long term step.

I have a feeling this will be a barren grass court season. However, I think we will see something big over the summer hardcourt season and into the US open.
