Week 24 - ITF (W100) - Manchester, Great Britain - Grass

So WTA announcement that: Naomi Broady, Katy Dunne, Gabriella Taylor and Alicia Barnett have been awarded main draw singles wild cards for the Manchester Trophy taking place from 10-16 June at the historic Northern Lawn Tennis Club, West Didsbury."

Interestingly that still leaves Jodie in qualifying.

And now that we know the QWCs for Nottingham, this leaves EWS, Sam, Ella Taylor, Vic Allen, Emily Appleton and Alice Gillan as next in line for QWCs here.

Remind me, as I was told last week, when do they finalise the fields and announce the actual final lists for a W100 event?

And when are the draws made?

Presumably there is no bizarre chance Jodie could have got into the Dutch event this week in some form or other?

By process of elimination, EWS, Sam and Ella will all be in Manchester qualifying directly, so that will free up QWCs. I can't see Jodie playing next week when you take into account the Nottingham and Manchester MDWCs and Nottm QWCs.

The LTA announced with the MDWCs that Vic and Emily A had QWC (although Vic may end up not needing hers)

Yes, the Q draw appears just after 7 pm on Sunday night and the MDs, probably around 3 pm on Monday.

As for Nottingham, the LTA have officially announced the wild cards. So it's Emily A and Vic get QWC's.

"Broady, Dunne, Taylor and Barnett will join Heather Watson flying the British flag in the main draw which will start on Tuesday 11 June, following qualifying matches on Monday 10 June. Emily Appleton and Victoria Allen have been awarded qualifying wild cards."

Oops and the announcement also states Heather as being the GB headline MD act... but she's already been announced as being in the Nottingham MD.

By my calculations, Ingrid Neel should be last in quals directly, and if Jodie is injured, that would make Vic 1st alt, so a very good chance of not needing that QWC.

Great isn't it when the LTA post these announcements AND GET IT WRONG for their own tournaments

Ironically if Mandy had stayed in this draw she would have been into qualifying too. She was still in the Surbiton alt list to the end but for this draw she was automatically withdrawn as she got onto the Czech W25 clay event qualifying list. The following week she is in the MD for a Portuguese W25+H hard court event, so an odd mix now.

Katy won't need hers I don't think after you take out Heather, Niculescu and Dolehide, and the two SEs.

Alicia an interesting choice but I guess she was next Brit on the list.

And then Ying Ying Duan is about 5 out of the main draw and has her French Open women's dubs final on Sunday, and assuming she's not eligible for an SE, it will be dedication turning up for quals to play 2 matches on grass the next day, especially if she wins the title. Babos is also in the final, but she is in the main draw, so that would be an extra day off and not playing 2 matches in 1 days.
