It's my local one so shall be going on Tuesday and Friday. Quite a low turn out on the women's side. Last year Katy Dunne, KB, Gabi, Laura Robson, Tara and Naomi were all here. Looks like injuries and different strategies affecting it. Unless anyone is expecting last minute wild cards (or have they all been given out?). At least I'll be able to follow British players easily. Last year it was impossible to decide which court to go on!

Women's wild cards are yet to be announced. I suspect they are waiting to see if Harriet needs one or if they need to hold one back for Heather. One withdrawal from the MD will put Harriet in the main draw as, although she's officially 3rd alt, there are no eligible tournaments for either of the SE places to be used. Heather may need a WC if she is still in RG doubles Sunday evening (and thus has to withdraw from Surbiton) but then loses on Monday before the Surbiton draw is made.

Although it's unlikely she'll make the final this week, is there no potential SE for Rodionova RS?

No. She's in a 25K. SEs to a 100K can only come from 60K or higher.

Good stuff. Never know what the rules are with these things.

There could be withdrawals at any time from anyone, but you'd think Zhang and particularly Babos would be most likely, given they are still involved in both doubles events, and seeded in the women's.

As it stands, it is a big contrast to last year as the last entrant is 134, or 142 of we discount the SE's, whereas Stollar, the last in last year, would have barely made it into quals here. Better I suppose for freeing up the Wimbledon WC, but it will generally make it tougher for the Brits to pick up wins.

Still a lot of players in France and there'll likely be other doubts (including Harriet), so it may change a fair bit by the time the draws are out, but it doesn't look like it'll be as weak as last year.

Niculescu has withdrawn from Surbiton, so Harriet should not need a WC.

I was thinking of trying to go to this as it looks like a good line up. It would take me a couple of hours to get there so it would be helpful to know if it it will be worth the journey. Anyone know what it's like? Can you turn up on the day and just buy a ticket? Is it easy to watch any of the courts? Do you wander round and sit on the grass like at Roehampton or are there any seats? Any tips or inside information would be much appreciated. Thanks

Definitely worth the journey as long as the weather is set to be dry (don't go otherwise)

You can buy the tickets online if you want to be on the safe side (they're on sale now). But I've always bought them on the gate.

For the first few days, it's a groundpass which also gives you access to the main show court. Afterwards, there's a groundpass and separate main court tickets.

Easy to watch all the courts. THey're are proper tribune seats on the show court. And some picnic style benches and plastic chairs put out on a few of the others. And one court is sideways on to the cafe courtyard so you can sit there and watch fine. But otherwise it's sitting on the grass or standing (they're a couple of courts where there's a path and a bit of grass to stand on but not much space). Overall, though, very good access, and good viewing.

ALso, very friendly, pleasant club. Very helpful, chatty. Sort of suburban and 'nice'. Good food.
