The moment England went through on penalties.

We got there - improved performance but still not perfect. But the penalties were perfect and lots of kudos for getting through.

If we win on Sunday, I might have to keep my front door locked.

I'dl need a very stiff drink.

Who though knows what the world will look like by Sunday given the commentator intimated that the world would be changing - that brought universal WTFs where I was!

Great result! Lucky with the penalty tbh but deserved the win overall and great goal by Watkins. Roll on Sunday!

Sadly we got what we deserved in the end. Kane was awful and didn't look fit. Having gone behind, we decided to go for it. Brought on more pace up front. Suddenly we looked dangerous and we equalised. But having done that, we sat back again and paid the penalty. We should have just gone for it.

One day, I would like to see us to 'play to win' instead of 'playing not to lose'.

Enhorabuena España.

We only try when losing! To many passengers as well and lopsided can't remember us attacking down our left all comp! Sucks it will carry on to 60 years! :(

Has everyone forgotten the heady glory days of Kevin Keegan?

Southgate needed to bring on someone like Gallagher around the 80th minute mark, because at that point England were sitting back and looking like they'd collectively settled for hanging on for extra time, and the midfield was out of shape and required fresh legs. Declan Rice was basically left to fend for himself towards the end there, and the pressure from Spain eventually took its toll.

Basically Southgate is ( generally belatedly ) reactive rather than proactive. To my mind he has got lucky with some of his belated substitutions in the last few matches which has amusingly turned some pundits into almost suggesting he is a new tactical messiah, and some sort of hero for daring to substitute a struggling Kane - he so isn't. Nice chap, done an awful lot for the atmosphere around the England camp over recent years, but ...

I think everyone could see Kane needed subbing he looked shattered from the 10th minute.

I was calling for it midway through the 1st half. I think there must be an injury in there somewhere because he was so far below his level from the rest of this season, it couldn't be just tiredness.

Keegan, by his own admission, was not a good coach, just a good motivator.

It's strange, i never felt nervy in this match; I always felt we would lose after it started, it was so obvious Spain are a better team and it always felt inevitable. When they scored the winner, it just felt empty as opposed to upset.
