With sincere apologies to my Scottish friends on here, I would love to see Ukraine go on and qualify for the WC. I would normally support any of the home nations in matches like this but the circumstances here are different. I just think a Ukraine win would be such a morale booster for a nation that is suffering so much.

Well, even before the match some of us were very much hoping that McTominay wouldn't be filling in in central defence in the absence of Tierney.

Final proof negative to Steve Clarke that McTominay is not a central defender? The other two in the back 3, Hanley and Cooper, particularly Hanley, have on the whole been steady for Scotland, but clearly have not been unaccustomed to shipping goals with their club teams.

The clearly better team on the night won. May the best team on the night win in Cardiff on Sunday. Huge game and so important to Wales and Ukraine for very different reasons.

As was to be expected it was a shadow team last night for Wales in Poland in the Nations League. Can Ukraine raise themselves again? They will certainly do their damndest.
