General football thread

It's funny in football lately what triggers the PL and what doesn't breach the rules...

Anyway good to hear that Mateta is doing well and all scans are clear though he has received 25 stitches for a severe laceration to his left ear. It certainly could have been worse.

On another note, how England's supposedly top ref, Michael Oliver, didn't see it as a sending off in the the first instance is a very strange one. I generally like Oliver but he has had a few strange ones lately. I think VAR fulfilled intervening for clear and obvious mistakes in this case, just a bit!  I think it might have out-Schumachered the infamous challenge from the 1982 World Cup ( says he showing his age ).

Apparently Millwall are unlikely to be charged by the FA for their fans' loud singing of "Let him die" while Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta was receiving lengthy treatment for the horrific kick he received to his head.

Apparently the fans' little ditty didn't breach protocols. Really???!!!

 I know, right?

Just caught up that Eddie Howe isnt well. The narrative coming out doesnt sound good, but not sure what happened to take him into hospital after feeling unwell for a few days.

Wish him well. I rate him as a coach and manager and he seems like a really decent guy as well.

Went to see Town yesterday - decent game, second half at least, with some good goals; Grimsby scored a worldly for their opener, from his own half. Wish they had replays, I need to find a video of it!

Looks like Town are safe now, poor season in the league. No attack.

But theres always next season.

Off to Town at home to Fleetwood today. Hopefully be the game that sees us safe!

Great result for Town today, dominated Fleetwood and won 3-1 with some decent goals.

Smallest team in the EFL, we survived another season and stay up, hurrah.

Weve got the basis of a decent team, 10 matches unbeaten at home and the FA Cup run and TV games gave us good money that bought some decent players in the January window. I liked Bryant Bolingo at left back.

Hope we can build and maybe push on for top half next season- fingers crossed!

Oh, and Leeds won as well and get promoted - not a bad day. And Harry Gray made his debut. Some say hes more talented than Archie!

Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup - good to see a team outside the old firm win it!

Yes, pretty good to see, and a big shock, particularly with how Celtic vs Aberdeen matches had gone this season.

4 years since St Johnstone won it though non Old Firm teams have won 7 out of the last 16 finals.

Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Spurs, Aberdeen - great to see these teams who have waited so long winning, with it meaning so much to them.

Saw some of that. Barcelona totally dominated and Arsenal only looked dangerous on the break

You got one more goal, all that counts. At this stage I'd say all the best but we are talking Arsenal

That's fair! I'm happy for a break in football if I'm honest! I go see my local team most weekends so a break is very needed.
