General football thread

Was watching some football highlights last night and saw Hibs are short sponsored by Bevvy.com

I had no idea what that is, turns out it is , aptly, a whisky website which allows you to take a photo of your whisky and get it reviewed and valued for your information. You can get a free trial or , presumably if into whisky , pay for the service.

Anyway , I scanned the one single bottle of whisky I had, given as a gift maybe 10 years ago - a Glengoyne 21 years old single malt. Which mean nothing to me - I dont ever drink whisky and hence why we have it 10 years down the line. I was quite surprised to see the Bevvy site values it as £180! For a bottle of whisky. Haha. Now Im not sure what to do with it, sell it maybe or just stare at it lovingly ? Or drink it? Or give it as a gift ?! Anyway , nicer choice to make knowing Ive a bottle at £180!

I cant deal with this VAR anymore. In injury time keeper cleans out Wolves player in the box after getting nowhere near the ball. No penalty. We get this s*** week in week out. And then our manager gets booked for showing frustrations. Brilliant. Had so many chances as well ffs.

Oh what we would have done to have VAR tonight. Leeds draw 1-1 as WBA score by punching the ball into the net.

Will be looking from one of those apologies from the refs dept.

Following Spain's win in the Women's World Cup, how terribly sad it was to hear that the goal scorer's father had passed away two days before the final and the family had taken the decision not to tell her. She only found out about an hour after the match finished. Really tragic.

Raises a really interesting question of what one should do in terms of telling. Not sure what I would want?!

What on earth is wrong with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). Not only has their boss Rubiales refused to resign for kissing WC Final goal scorer Jennifer Hermoso on the lips during the celebration ceremony, they are now taking legal against her for lying about whether it was consensual or not. She denies consenting.

If that's not bad enough and I am reading this correctly, their argument that consent was given (and hence Hermosa is lying) is based on the claim that she hugged him sufficiently hard to lift his feet off the ground and that this act constitutes consent.

The RFEF had embarrassed themselves on the past over their lax stance on racism, but this latest incident just smacks of misogynistic claptrap and is utterly disgusting. No wonder there are so many players refusing now to represent Spain until this guy either resigns or is sacked.

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory - quite remarkable situation really; the federation apparently is made of some 100 plus members of which 6 are women, or something like that. This guy and his crotch grabbing antics as well, it all seems a major embarrassment.

And such a shame for Spain and the Spanish football team - when they should be on cloud nine, celebrating to the rafters, all anyone is focused on some totally out of order, lecherous dinosaur guy who believes he's amazing and has a god-given right to do whatever he fancies

Yes, so sad. And the reports that he was going to resign have so far proved unfounded, quite the reverse, in spite of his position being pretty clearly untenable    ( and I see now suspended by FIFA, those paragons of all virtue ).

Others though have been resigning or threatening to resign, not play etc as long as he remains in position. The  controversial Spain women's head coach is evidently not one though.he appears to no longer have any coaching team.

Got to hope though that it will be a line in the sand that will lead to a much better future. First of all though, you just go, mate!

Ouch. That must hurt. Rangers blew it big time as well. Maybe a trip to Glasgow for Brighton? Find out on Friday

Thought wed sold Luke Armstrong for 500k to Wrexham last night, statements released - we bought Josh March from Stevenage with the money and some left over.

Wrexham messed up and didnt get paperwork done- efl rejected deal. Luke still a Town player now - value will go down no doubt as we are left with both strikers.

Mess up. Amateur hour at Wrexham. Leaving this stuff to Hollywood actors is a big mistake (just kidding!)

Cyprus 0 Scotland 3

First 5 Euro qualifying group games won after winning their last 6 World Cup qualifying group games so 11 qualifying group games won in a row. Wee hiccup in between in World Cup play-off vs Ukraine

Euro Finals qualification virtually done and dusted with 3 games to play for Scotland. Could be on Tuesday as each of Norway and Georgia have to win their last 4 games to pip Scotland ( if Scotland lose their last 3 ) so if they draw ....

Scott McTominay scored again to be joint top scorer in Euro qualifying on 6 goals, ahead of such as Kane and Mbappe  biggrin

It's all a bit surreal. But anyway, c'mon Scotland !
