Good win, given Naomi's recent form. But we all know she can be better than that, so a win over WR307 should really be more routine. I'm very pleased to see the win though, and hope it's a strt of a good run.
Indeed a good win for Naomi, given recent form. Tara on court now too, and hope she is not going to go the opposite way to Naomi. Won the first, but lost the second, 6-2 4-6
Really pleased for Naomi, I questioned whether she had turned a corner and thought it was too early to gauge, but she'd have probably lost matches like this 2 or 3 (or 2-12) months ago. Takes out a seed of course and faces 18 year old Miyamoto next, and just looking at recent results, she'll have a decent opportunity to go further.
I had a look at the Tara odds yesterday evening and Hanatani was 11/4, so I clicked her as a double with Emily's 9/4 Indian opponent which brought up an 11.18/1 double. I didn't put it on and then when I went back on a couple of hours later, the Japanese opponent had shortened to 2/1, to bring the double down to just over 8/1. I probably wouldn't have put anything on anyway, but the shortening put me right off, so another reason to hope Tara comes through.
Anyway, Tara saved at least 1 BP to hold and is currently looking at a BP herself on the opponents serve.
Naomi get's a lower ranked opponent next round, after beating the seeded player today, so good chance for her to progress further. Tara could play the 6th seed, but her match will only be Tuesday.
