Emilie's ITF ranking has slipped 90 places since the tournament entry date - a result of her being injured these last couple of months - and so although she was 7th on the acceptance list, she falls out of the actual rankings. Orlova is just above her now in the rankings but must have missed seeding by only 1-2 places. They look relatively evenly matched, but hope Emilie can pull off the same outcome as when they last met.
For Tanysha, a good opportunity to gain a few more ITF points.
Update on the doubles. Our girl's partners are not having much luck. Tanysha's partner retired in her singles yesterday and gave a walkover to Emilie+ in the 1st round of doubles. Today, Emilie's partner has retired from her singles match. We wait to see if she can play doubles QF tomorrow.
Of note here is that Tig, the former top 100 player, was defeated in last week's final, got into the MD here as a SE (she was only in qualifying otherwise), but the retired in the 3rd set of her opening match, after winning the first set easily, then clearly picking up an injury and struggling. Tig beat both Tanysha and Emilie last week.
