Week 21 - French Open, Roland-Garros, Paris, Qualifying (Clay)

Not the easiest of draws for our two men in qualifying.

QR1: Jay Clarke WR = 162 (CH = 159 a few weeks ago) vs (q17) Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ESP) WR = 136 (CH = 127 only two weeks ago)

QR1: James Ward WR 174 (CH = 89 in  July'15) vs (q23) Oscar Otte (GER) WR = 139 (CH =  129 in Oct '17)

I am using Davidovich Fokina because that's how it is on the ATP website - other posters may do as they see fit.

Was it the Spaniard who beat Dan a week or two ago?

It was indeed Jon. Very tricky for Jay.

"Davidovich" (his father's surname) will do for me.  The ATP web site isn't fit to be regarded as the fount of all knowledge on such matters.  wink

Yes, but it does represent what the players filled out on their forms so it is the player's choice and, you could argue, should be respected.

However, we've been here before (smile) so I'm going with the fact that it's good that different people have different approaches. Embrace diversity, and all that.....

& that's fine SC - I respect that. I just won't be following it myself. I am not searching high and low for the information when the ATP website - and the tour in general i.e it's on the drawsheet - uses that name.

Don't know about qualifying, but last time (only time) I went to RG on days 1, 2, and 3 of the main event, I was informed that there was NO ticket office.  They only sold tickets online.

Even the practice courts were out of bounds so I couldn't even watch them practice.

Looks like there are some  available online for most of this week. I presume you can just buy them and print them out.

Ive been a few times. You buy online print out "ticket" then take it the relevant gate with your passport and they swap paper for actual ticket.

I see that poor Kokki has withdrawn, leaving an ALT spot. And I read:

Weintraub signed in, so he gets the ALT spot and will play against Rosol.

BUT Wientraub doesn't have any ATP ranking???? I'm pretty sure he didn't have one a couple of weeks ago when it was cut off time....so what am I missing???

Weintraub has no 'activity' for over 2 years. I assume injury and a PR?
