Gabueva was likely last into the MD. Emily can't complain about this draw, she can't ask for a much easier way to earn 5 pts first up.

Emily performed ok last week against Stojanovic WR 251. You're correct, she doesn't yet have a MD 25k win, but I will actually back her to break that duck Wed when she plays.

Emily and Eudice have won their first round doubles 4-6 6-0 10-4

QF opponents don't play until tomorrow, but potentially Paige Hourigan +Indonesian partner, the 2nd seeds.

Speaking of Paige Hourigan, I see she lost comfortably as a seed to Ipek Soylu (2-6 1-6) through the night and that's who Emily will play if she comes through her R1 match. The Turk is a decent player struggling with injuries and is about 300-350 places below her career high a couple of years ago - I remember her beating Boulter in either US or Aussie Open qualifiers 15-18 months ago.

Ipek was the favourite in that match and I was hoping Paige would come through as Emily beat her the other week. This of course will all be academic if Emily loses her R1 match.

Yes, maybe my faith in Emily finally winning a W25 MD match was misplaced, but at least she is giving it a better go in the second set. 1-6 *3-2 40-40
