I think this is to do with tennis though? ie this all effectively about whether Wimbledon/LTA should continue to ban Russian players from Wimbledon and other events this year...
According to Simon Briggs in the Telegraph Denise Parnell is expected to become Wimbledon's first female referee in 2024. She was a player from the 1980's.

I used to watch Denise Parnell at Ilkley each year back in the early 80's, she played the Open event there. She is from somewhere like Blackburn if I recall, Lancashire was her county, I am pretty sure.
Won't count that against her though.
Edit - Mancunian it seems

So, mens doubles will be 3 sets from this year - not sure if the final will be 5 sets or not?
Probably had to come and cant say I am too disappointed, I would like to think the final will be 5 sets though, but probably will be 3 sets throughout
Not sure quite where but it was mentioned on the forum some weeks ago I would guess that it will be best of 3 sets throughout, including the final, which is what I would prefer.

Must have missed it! I think it will probably be 3 sets throughout as they didnt call out a 5 set final etc. I cant remember if mixed is now a MTB final set or 3 full sets, but personally think using a MTB for mixed could be the way forwards for that event as well - if it is already, of course, good call guys.
I said above I would like 5 set final, on reflection I dont mind and as they never use 5 sets anywhere else now, it would not particularly add any value - so 3 sets would make sense to me
