Rest of the set didn't get much better. 2-6 *0-1, and in big trouble straight away in her first service game.

She had 2 SPs, but I also see she saved 2 MPs in the *4-5 game. Needs to save 6 more as the TB has been a disaster 0-6.

7th seed Konta has a tough opening round match against Wang Yafan who is in and around her career high at 50 and has had an excellent start to 2019. Looking through Wang's previous results, she seems fairly modest on clay, but then Jo is probably worse. I'd say a proper 50/50 tie.

Somehow or other Ladbrokes have Jo 2nd favourite to win the tourament after Elise Mertens. I think they must have got confused with Nottingham. Nobody would seriously think Jo was remotely ever likely to win a WTA clay court tournament. I know she won clay court events on the ITF circuit at the beginning of her career but that was against opponents who never made it to the main tour.
