So pleased to see Emma win her comeback match. Not so encouraged by her working with Jane O D, didnt work very well last time and I doubt she has the tactical and strategic knowledge to impart to take out Svitolina. If Emma wins it will be down to Emma me thinks!
Read somewhere that Janes not given up her day job and was described as Emmas mentor. Hope Emma stays injury free and sorts out her coaching merry go round!
I'm not sure about Emma's coaching merry go round, but so many people slated Andy when he was the first to have a team, and it worked for him. I'm unsure whether Emma's mediocre results since her USO win have been due to media attention, injuries or coaching, to name but a few!
So many people with stable coaching setups don't make it, and as fans we never really know what's going on. With Emma's ethnic background, there will be some OTT(?) filial piety going on, but maybe that will ease as she gets older... I watch her with interest, but not the expectation of when I first saw her long before she shot to fame.

Is that the same Jane OD from Wigan who played Venus that time at wimbey. I now recollect watching something on ESPN sports Classics showing that match. I never knew this was the same person, although the penny has just dropped.

Yes from Wigan and reached 189 in singles ranking. Got to the second round of Wimbledon 2005 and 2006.
Don't think we needed to worry about Emma not making the main draw as Madison Keys has now pulled out. Madison will now be replaced by Sara Errani. One former Grand Slam runner up will be replaced by another.
Emma to play in KOOYONG CLASSIC! Murray has already signed up. Anyone know if this is televised by someone other than Sky?
The Kooyong is a strange one in the ilk of something like the Boodles pre Wimbledon. It used to be a more competitive event, 8 men (only men) playing in a knockout event with a champion, but it is now a wider field with just a series of exhibition matches - I think they still crown a winner but not really clear how that happens!
So, no ranking points at stake in this but good practice for Andy and Emma

Ive messaged Kooning to see if matches will be streamed.
Oh dear. I thought she'd be going to Cluj-Napoca. Turning that down for a 500 is a clear indication that her "fresh start" is to go straight back into 500s and 1000s and not as many of us had hoped, me included, that it would be a more natural rebuilding of her ranking in lower tournaments that she'd skipped over with her USO victory.
Also reported in yesterday's Times - Stuart Fraser claimed it was exclusive but of course soon covered by the other papers. Just a weel so far, but Nick might be retained for Australia.

That seems like a good move? Not an expert but wondered if Emma had the physicality to get the best from Sachs or Tursonov. Nick will surely have a better handle on her limitations..and strengths?
