Yes it is brutal but Kyles ranking is probably reflective of fortunate draws because hes certainly not WR 22 on form, similar to the CH of 13 being very generous.

I have a couple of questions for you Jaggy, given that we disagree on Kyle's achievements so far - which is fine by the way.
1) Do you think your opinion of what Kyle has achieved so far would be different if Andy M hadn't existed ?
2) What would Kyle have to achieve for you to see his career as a success ?
Hi Bob, happy to answer your questions. I dont think we disagree as such in achievements as results speak for themselves. Happy to answer the questions below and had a good think about them as they are reasonable ones to ask.
1. No, Andy and Kyle cant really be compared and I dont think of Andys success as effecting any opinions on other players. Andy very quickly had success and regularly was beating top 10 players including Federer and Nadal at their peak within his first year or two inside the top 50. I see Andy as a freak in the nicest possible way in that he was a world class player one of whom I doubt we will see repeated within a minimum of the next 10-20 years. His success was also nothing to do with British Tennis as we all know.
2. Im not really sure, success is relative and its hard to say at 24. Id say he has been a success regardless of what else follows. Made the most of the ability he has, won an ATP event, Grand Slam semi, made the Top20, thats all very successful in my opinion and again its probably doubtful we will have anybody better that in the next 10 years. Dan, Cam and Kyle are probably all similar in potential and I dont see much difference in terms of how far they can go. All successful top 50 players.
In finishing Id say I have a lot of respect for anyone that cracks even the top 100 in this Sport it takes so much hard work physically and mentally that only a few will make it. I think perhaps maybe I see things from an overall tennis fans point of view and not a GB one, so Id say Im less biased and more realistic and reflective on results than maybe others with favourite players. Nothing wrong with that but sometimes a wee bit of distortion comes through from supporters of indivual players.

Hope that makes sense.
Thanks Jaggy. As you say, perhaps we are not as far apart in our opinions as it may seem some times. I am fully aware that I see things at times with "rose tinted spectacles", and I tend to focus on the positive aspects wherever possible. But that is just the way I am. Always preferred the carrot to the stick.
