Drawing a returning Tig in a FQR in a random Mexican hard court $15K at the start of clay season has to be one of the all time recent bad lucks o' the draw

Oh hello SQ!

Yes, you're right. Amelia hasn't been having much luck in any of these q draws so far, and certainly no more this week. Tig clearly warmed up too as the match progressed.

FQR: Amelia STUART (GBR) [q7] UNR/875 lost to Patricia Maria TIG (ROU) [WC] UNR/UNR (CH:83 April 17) 4-6 0-6

Main Draws due out. So far the doubles draw has two pairs in it - the top seeds and second seeds wink

Emily and Maria Jose are the top seeds this week (and top two on the acceptance list for the singles), and whatever else happens in the doubles draw between those two pairs, they have a bye first round.

Mind to be fair, Amelia is on a 8 match losing streak stretching back to last year and when she did get an absolute dream draw like the local Ramirez last week, who was coming in that match on the back of a 0-6 0-6 and subsequently lost 3-6 0-6 to Escauriza (lower ranked than Amelia) in the following Q round, she still couldn't get the job done, so in reality, it probably wouldn't have made too much difference who she drew here.

Emily won 6-2 7-5. Quite a good recovery in the second set as she was 2-4 *15-40 down, but turned it around.

Breaks to love and Emily wins 6-2 6-3

Opponent won the first 2 games, then Emily won 8 games straight, opponent then won 3 game and Emily ended it by winning 4 in a row. Momentum shifts.
