Gonna be a bare week on the women's side, Fed Cup aside. Maia and Gabi have withdrawn from USA 80k and Emily and Victoria have withdrawn from Cancun. Emily LG is in the main draw of one 15k and there was an Alicia Robinson, who I'm not familiar with, in the quals of another.

Curious. Naiktha Bains profile is still showing her as Australian, but in week 15 and 16 entry lists, including Santa Magherita and Sunderland, she is given as being GB.

I'd say an error as you first thought RS. It is interesting though and it would be welcome if it indeed was true. She'd certainly be turning over at the right time if she was wink

Indeed our 'Strongest Nation' top 10 average is seeking a potential new 10th member if Naomi can't replace a good proportion of the points she is due to drop in the next couple of months.

Like Beth, Fran, Eden, Tara, Emma or hi Naiktha  smile

She was of course born in Leeds and holds dual British aussie citizenship, but no evidence on Twitter or elsewhere to suggest it isnt a mistake, sadly.

There's also the potential MDWCs / QWCs into Nottingham, Birmingham, Eastbourne, or the 100k's, and of course Wimbledon. She already has a 25k single's title to her name in 2019, that's bigger than any of our girls have managed, and on grass to boot.

I'd be disappointed if this wasn't true now and turned out to be just a mistake.

Yeah, I've been doing the rounds on social media to no avail. Funnily enough her last Insta past was in Leeds (albeit a year ago...)

Grass wildcard jokes aside, it would be a bit of a strange time for her to potentially switch - it's not as if she's stalling and wants a change of scenery to help her get going, she's at a career high of 253, won a title at 'home' and is still getting some WCs when needed into these events.

Definitely worth keeping tabs on and the same with the likes of Wallace, Garland, Brescia and younger players like Boyden, just in case. The more the merrier I say, especially if they do have British parents and / or were born here.

I think many are seeing what a welcoming, tolerant nation we are, so at ease with itself.

Haha.

One other point, while I would welcome all the aforementioned potential switches and to be honest even those like Bolkvadze who only have the Bedene type links, at the same time, I'd be gutted if the likes of Emma switched to China or something. I'm sure that wouldn't happen, especially with Wimbledon and you'd think she'd have all she needed to progress here, but it would be a real sickener if it did.

It says Great Britain now. Fully fledged?

Her WTA profile says Australian.
I re-read the article on the BBC website from 8 years ago. Unless something has dramatically changed, I see no reason why she would ever switch back to playing under the GB flag. (not even for wildcards)

I know what you mean, it's also not like she is (potentially) switching from NZ to GB where she would get more benefits and it would be like for like in tennis terms. She would however instantly become the GB #6 as opposed to Aussie #14. Her father still refers to her as a 'Leeds lass' though and she has referenced it as 'home' in recent years, so does still have an attachment in that sense.

As for other switches, it is the ITF that usually update first. It changed with Choinski well before the ATP and Rybakina's from Rus to Kaz and a few others. It just seems strange that there would be 2 changes, first the flag and then an hour later 'nationality', that's surely not by accident or a mistake.

It would be great if it was true as we'd basically be getting another Maia Lumsden type, someone 21, circa 300 (or beyond in Naiktha's case) who already has a 25k title to her name.

Perhaps she has just seen some if the gloom on here in recent weeks/months and wants to give us all a boost wink
