Weeks 10 & 11 - WTA Premier Mandatory - Miami, USA - Hard

A mixed bag I'd say.

Don't think Heather will win, but can't really have too many complaints about drawing Brengle, that's a very fair draw for an unseeded player at this stage.

I've never been massively convinced by Bouzkova despite her junior pedigree. She does have a 2-0 H2H over Katie and is coming into this on the back of a 125k final (where she lost 2 and 0 to Kudermetova yesterday. Could have been easier with KB being a seed, but she'll have a decent chance.

Unlucky draw for Harriet. Barthel coming into this on the back of a great week in IW and sufficient rest - beat Keys and Georges on her way to the L16, before losing to Venus. I've not checked, but that run may well have taken her past the seeding positions and into the main draw. Not a great draw either way.

Edit - Katie 8/13, Hev 6/4, Harriet 5/2 FWIW.

Just saw Barthel wouldn't have been ranked high enough to have been in the main draw at 87, but it's still a very tough draw.

Harriet on first match, 3 pm I think, UK time. Heather 4th so late evening, Katie 5th and after Heather, perhaps around midnight.

I've been to miami area several times around this time of year, Easter hols when kids where small, we often went to Naples which is just up the coast (we are going this year for first time in ten years in late may). Anyway, heat can be brutal , v humid, maybe some storms , even in March. Fitness will help. Much hotter than IW, not quite as bad as Melbourne, perhaps more like Qatar and Dubai recently, which are more humid than people realise and still around mid 80's in Feb. I'd guess miami is 80 f now bit haven't checked

I think it's a 2pm start for Harriet. Pretty sure I read play starts at 10am local and they are 4 hours behind at the moment.

When they can, someone needs to change the heading to Weeks 12 and 13...

Looks like Harriet is competing well. 3-3* and has a BP.

They've already exchanged breaks as she was 0-2 down.
