Week 11 - Challenger ($162,480+H) - Arizona Tennis Classic, Phoenix, AZ, USA (hard)

L48:  (ALT) Ernesto Escobedo (USA) WR 267 (CH = 67 in July 2017) vs Daniel Evans WR 100 (CH = 41 in March 2017)

Goffin is the top seed.

Dan will play Daniel next , 8th seed I think, and is on today in the evening session on centre court. Early hours of our morning sadly.

Dan has a 1-1 record against Escobedo, won last time they played in August. Tennis Abstract rates Dan as likely last 8 and should also beat Daniel next. Kukushkin is in his quarter and favoured over Dan

Dan didn't get on. Lovely little video clip though on the ATP Challenger Tour Twitter page of him and Ryan Harrison having a bit of banter on the putting green -

Yes, saw that, it's good isn't it.   Great for Dan to have some 'unwinding' time and also to know, not toooooo late, that play was cancelled.

Dan is in action on ATP live stream, down 3-1 but that is quite usual for Dan!

Setting is weird for a top ATP Challenger event - looks like a court in a car park or some such, even the central court looks like it isnt part of a big event. Compare with Drummondville on other streams , where the event looks like a proper arena style event.

And now 5-4 and serving for the set, typical Dan. If I was a betting man I would bet dan will be down at mid point of set one and possibly typically lose it to come back and win. And he seems to be playing to the tune this time as well!

Dan takes the set 6-4. There seems to be a delay between sets and some lengthy discussions going on about something. I wonder if it is raining again.

Yep. Seems it must be raining again as play has been suspended.
