First served for it at 5-1, had a match point, then spurned a couple more in the final, but he's still only 17, so he'll learn - I hope!
Never the less, great win. Avidzba obviously blown away initially by Jacks level of play which compared to Kyles at the same age is up a level. Generally this is a very competitive tournament, Southern California has heaps of talent not to mention UCLA and USC are college tennis powerhouses attracting some of the very best college players from across the US. I remember Kyle coming here having already dominated the European Futures as No 1 seed in 2014 and getting dumped out in the second round. It may have been jet lag? He then played Miami and went home.
L32: (5) Alen Avidzba (RUS) ITF 166 (ATP 385) vs (IR) Jack Draper ITF 57 (ATP 558) L32: Qualifier vs Lloyd Glasspool ITF 81 (ATP 430)
L32: (Q) Jacob Dunbar (USA) ITF 585 vs (Q) Andrew Watson ITF 263
And would you Adam & Eve it?
L32: (Q) Ryan Peniston ITF 174 vs Lloyd Glasspool ITF 81 (ATP 430)
and the winner will face Jack in the last 16!
I am always for GB players playing each other, it is much more interesting to me as a punter and gives us a greater insight into who is on form, etc etc. Peniston could beat Lloyd I feel and I would go for that result with Jack to perhaps beat him next up
