I guess SBG will be quite happy just to be involved as I'd imagine she'd have probably just sneaked in with that ranking, but Shinkova was the 5th seed in Altenkirchen last week (and won a title in Slovakia the week before) so that just shows this main draw is pretty stacked.
Never heard of Naomi's opponent, but on paper, it seems OK.

I guess Beth will be a lot more than happy - she is only 10th alt on the itf acceptance list, and appears to be the last qualifier.
Hope she can get a doubles partner.
Thirteen of our girls entered this event but failed to get into the qualifying event. Had they instead entered the W25 in Moscow seven would have been higher ranked than the lowest ranked girl without a WC. It looks as if players outside the top 400 will need to enter lots of W25 tournaments each week to stand any chance of getting accepted.
Beth will indeed be pleased to have got a place especially to be drawn against an opponent who she beat in both singles and doubles last year. I understand that Beth will be partnering Sam Murray in the doubles-should be a good pairing.

Completely forgot about these qualifiers playing twice in a day until I saw the Carreras thread.
You'd expect a few wide scores given how some, like SBG, got in after a number of withdrawals, so there will be wide ranking and ability differences between some of the Q1 competitors, but Yerolymos was the only real close match out of the 12 - that went 10-8 in the MTB, whereas all the others seem very comfortable. 2 dropped 6 games, 2 dropped 5 and the other 7 were 4 games or less (one is still on going, but it's 6-1 *5-1).
Grim sums it up as Naomi now fails even to qualify for a 25k
QR: Naomi BROADY (GBR) [q3] 265 lost to Margot YEROLYMOS (FRA) 410 (CH:371) 3-6 2-6
Our singles interest herewith ends, but in the doubles Beth and Sam are playing together as telstar reported earlier, and Naomi has now ventured into the Arabian Nights to seek a stay from execution. May she prove better at story telling than she has recently been at tennis.
