Tough tasks but Victoria and Tiffany, currently each on 2 WTA counters, need one more counter ( ie qualification ) to get a WTA ranking.

As usual 'just' reaching the FQR would count nothing for any player rankingswise, WTA or ITF.

Tiffany underway and a slow start. *0-2, just one point so far, but obviously early stages.

Tiff couldn't recover from 0-4, and lost the first set 2-6. Signs of improvement in the last four games though.

Sasha and opponent exchanged early holds, but she was broken in the 5th game and is now *2-4

Holly, who looked the biggest outsider of the 8 on paper, is actually a break up. *2-1.

and if anyone's interested, Brescia took her first set 7-5, but down a break in the 2nd.

Some really encouraging looking performances here. Tiff into a MTB, Staff *5-2 (just had a SP) and Sasha battling well. She was *0-40 in her first same of the second set, but held and still on serve there 2-1*.

Holly takes the first set 6-2, great stuff.

Oh, and Sasha has just broken (to love) in set 2, *3-1.

It was 3-3 last time I looked, but it ran away from Tiff in the end. 2-6 6-2 (4-10).

Sasha absolutely flying though, won second set 6-1, including the last 5 games to 15, love, 40, love, 15. Hopefully she can take that momentum into the MTB.

I think the ITF need to look at allocating ITF points for winning a round of qualifying in 25ks
