Heather wanting that hometown support in the doubles.

Single's match could have been easier, but not beyond her - it's apparently a very fast court here.

It does always strike me as strange. They did pretty well at Wimbledon a few years back, losing in the third round to KaPlis and Goerges.

Is it about friendship or winning? Broady's form is worse than Heather's after all.

Andy and Jamie are brothers, are they less brothers for rarely playing doubles together? Many/all players respect/like Federer and Nadal...they hardly ever play doubles. Etc.

jamie has regular partner; andy hasnt routineley played dubs for jamie to be dipping in and out to join up with andy when the later feels like playing
here they travel together to event but play dubs with scratch partners - broady did play with sanders last (well this) week and once in 2013 maybe this is supposed to be start of partnership as a chance at wta dubs? - ewatson never played with stollar but useful to have a home favorite i supose

they played birmingham and wimby together last year and in 2009-10 also
both are in kind of dire form the sort of thing that a freindly face and a bit of mutual suport might help

not sure the point you trying to make on fed/rafa im sure loads people would play dubs with them given ˝ a chance but they never play dubs unless fed/olympics etc and not sure how many players are really they freinds as such as admiring work coleageues
broady and watson are v good freinds sometime you dont want to jeopardise that at work and sometime liek joss/anna or taco it make no difference or even bring you together

I find it slightly strange that we expect our players to play doubles together.

I don't believe that Heather and Naomi train together and I've no idea whether they're good friends or not but, even if so, there must be lots of people on tour that the two girls are friends with, apart from each other.

I sort of expect youngsters to play with their compatriots, because they don't really know anyone else at first (although I think it's a shame - there's a lot to be said for playing with others, both in terms of tennis and it makes the tour a lot easier too later on, if you've developed friends and connections). But by you're the age of Hev and Naomi, there's no real reason they should.

You made my point better than I did. I certainly don't expect our players to partner up with each other.

dont believe i mentioned the nation
its about 2 close friends going to the same event together and playing doubles there with scratch partners rather than each other
but fine if you want to make that sound like a weird idea maybe it is
makes sense to me but there you go
im going to concert youre going to, you want a lift, sure, but we dont get tickets together and when we get there we can only watch it with other people that we hardly know

I am in Budapest with my family this week. Currently working on my family that it would be great to cheer a Brit on at a top level Pro Tennis tournament. Not exactly "Bob in Spain/Brazil" type league I know but if I can post home a foreign report I shall do so.
