Another Dubai QWC for Eden. I wonder if it is the UAE trying to soften her up, or part of a deal with the LTA or something. If it was the latter then it would be nice if they were spread out, because entry into P5 quals for someone 400-500 is pretty lucrative. $2550 just for turning up.
I'm sure she'll give it a good go, but think it'll be a similar story to EWS in Doha last week. She's 2nd on with play starting 6.30am UK time, so probably around 8am. She's 7/1 if anyone fancies a punt.
Timea Babos is far from her best at the moment. If Eden has to play her it might as well be now.
True, usually ranked inside the top 50, but now heading out of the top 100, retired in her last match in Thailand and obviously withdrew from the Fed Cup team. That all said, there is obviously levels to this game and I'm expecting something like the 1 and 3 defeat she had to Diyas last year.
I'm not sure if this is where Eden is based or whether it is somewhere she choose to train occasionally, but she has done some training here. She did a month long training block here last summer and from CF Tennis Academy social media it seems she was training here ahead of her French tournaments in October and again before going to India

Almost a huge upset in one of the other qualifiers. #528 Julia Elbaba took the first set off #88 Hercog 7-5 and then had an MP at *6-5 in the second set tie break and another at 7-6*, but ended up losing that and they're into a third set there. I'm sure Elbaba was around 14/1 pre-match.
