Looking at the weather forecast I don't hold much hope for them completing this tournament. Rain forecast for today and showers for Saturday and Sunday. Still have some qualifying matches to finish. Currently no play before noon local.

I knew ITF qualifying was a super tie break in the final set, but didn't realise it applied to 15k main draws as well. Fran levelled up at 6-3 in the second set, and has just recovered a mini break in the MTB. *4-5

It doesn't. They are playing MTBs because they are so far behind schedule.

Seems to have been frozen at 9-7 for a while - hopefully that means you know what.

They still haven't finished the first round and tomorrow is the last day. It looks as if they are trying to complete R1 and R2 tomorrow and then probably call it a day, unless they run on a day or two. I imagine this will happen more often now we start Q1 on Mondays instead of Saturdays.

Yes, the effects of adverse weather, another consequence of shortening tournaments that clearly wasn't really taken into account...

In addition it leads to very wasted weekends when nothing much is happening, so the week is certainly not being maximised as much as it was previously. It will be interesting to see if players think there is any advantage to having the delayed sign in time for qualifiers vs the hectic scheduling that then follows, with any weather delay immediately leading to the doubling up of matches - which affected Mandy negatively this last week for one.

They managed to complete R1 and had started the mens R2 before play was suspended. It looks like they are going to finish the mens R2 tomorrow but that the women's competition has been abandoned at the end of R1.

Fran is here again next week. More rain is forecast during the middle of the week but Friday onwards is fine so they should be able to complete next week's tournament.

Yes shortening tournaments to much more a match every day and it seems not fully considering err weather seems rather an oversight.

Previous still often doubling up will now more likely become double doubling up, trebling up abd/or abandonment.
