Tough match for Gabi first up, but it's not a seed, and this is the kind of match she needs to be able to start winning if she is to make continued upward progress. As Seagull has said in the entries section, Heather is missing from the draw although she was still entered.

In the doubles Gabi is playing with Kyoka Okamura (JPN). Their first round match against an Aussie pair is up tomorrow. Both Katie and Gabi's first round singles will be on Wednesday.
Good doubles win for Gabi + in the doubles. They benefit too in the next match from the top seeds having been replaced by an alt pair in the first round, so it is another unseeded pair they will face next.
QF: Kyoka Okamura/ Gabriella Taylor (JPN/GBR) 857 (349+508) vs Paula Badosa Gibert/ Marta Kostyuk (ESP/UKR) 1570 (877+693)

I suspect that Gibert and Kostyuk will be a little stronger than their rankings suggest

Lol, understatement ! Combined singles ranking is 257 Although they only won 5 & 3 against the alts in the first round.
Yes, they got into the doubles on their singles rankings, as the Aus alt pair they beat 7-5 6-3 have a higher doubles ranking. Gabi + will indeed do well to get past them!
gabi just cant get a normal season where she can just play we dont know what she might be able to do becasue there always something interupting her from getting full head of steam up

Yes, if last season started auspiciously for her, so far this season is starting quite the reverse
She loses over half her points in the next two months, so her ranking will plummet if she isn't able to put together a few strings of wins before then. We'll see whether she takes time off now, or stays in the doubles this week and next week's 60k that she is also entered for.
