Good and bad news for Tanysha. The good news is that she has got into the q draw as an alt... The bad, she faces the top seed first up cry Very unfortunate as I think lower down the draw she may have had a good chance of qualifying... She still may do but will need a very good match first up. Her opponent at least has also not had a WTA ranking before

To note as well that both Ella Taylor and Mandy Carreras should be in the MD here. Ella is 3rd on the entry list; none of the seeds will want Mandy first up!

Today's q matches look like they started late and scores are only showing for three so far. MD is out now, Ella is seeded 3 and Mandy faces a qualifier. Ella's opponent, who is now UNR, had an actual ranking similar to Ella's end of last year, but obviously with (many) more 15k points in it.

All the FQR and some QR1 matches have been held over until tomorrow. Tanysha's score is showing well, looks like she played well but lost against the top q seed.

From the streams of the other matches it looks very cold with players well wrapped up. Amanda has now warmed up to take control of the first set

Yes great to see Mandy seemingly much more warmed up today. She gets the 2nd seed next, who only won in 3 sets today and won't be happy meeting Mandy so early on in the tournament.

 ... and windy. The trench warfare of tennis. Stamina and persistence being the key. Ella is playing ok, but getting the wrong dice from net cords at the moment.

Sadly Ella lost in the end, though the bit I watched looked like it could go either way. The errors were more on Ella's side though, whilst Ureke several times managed to recover from positions where Ella should have won the point. But it was certainly not easy to score winners on that court.
