Very good R1 draw though for Harriet and Anett.

Certainly Melichar and Peschke have been doing well. Seeing Nicole now at WR 14, I just hope we see her old partner Anna Smith back in action soon.

Thanks! My aim is to do as much writing as possible! My day job can be very stressful at times, especially January it seems furious, so I don't always get to be quick to the mark with match reviews, but will be writing previews for the whole tournament - both singles and doubles! :)

Whats peoples viewing plans then? Midnight for the ladies, all nighters or (like me having to work tomorrow) an early start to catch end of Evans and Edmund

Great stuff Nick...soon we will know how close you are with your predictions! Seems reasonable to me.

Edit- seagull, will probably get up at 7 and see what's still on before work. The time difference is a bit of a nightmare and unlike the US Open, my current job doesn't lend itself to taking time off just now.

My predictions for tomorrow are for Katie B to defeat Makarova heavily and for Harriet to pull off a monster of a shock and defeat Sharapova in a very close match. Sadly I think Martic will probably be too good for Heather, but I really hope I am wrong, and I think Tomljanovic will probably beat Jo Ko tomorrow night. Oh and I reckon Amanda Anisimova may make the third round and become the new teenage sensation (I think I am correct that she is the youngest player in the tournament at just 17).

Anyway come on you Brits - all the games are winnable and I am very excited. I've just finished working 12 and a half hours and have another 12 tomorrow, but no chance of any sleep before 2.30 am at the earliest.

Amanda is the youngest of the 3 17 year olds in the draw as Potapova and Swiatek turn 18 before her, but Whitney O is the youngest in the draw at 16, although she did benefit from the reciprocal wildcard agreement, rather than by ranking or the qualifiers.
