Now, with all the SFists known, any of Osaka, Kvitova or Pliskova winning the title will also see them as WR 1 on Monday.

Danielle Collins winning the title will leave Osaka as WR 1.

My preference for no.1 in order: Kvitova, Osaka, Pliskova

However, Petra won both the tournaments in St. Petersburg and Qatar and got to R4 in Miami. Lots of points. Also of note: Pliskova, former no.1 without a slam, Osaka/Kvitova slam holders (present/past) but not no.1 (yet).

And as Indy says , the winner of the final will be World #1, which very seldom is the outcome of a Slam final, so lots of ingredients. Personally, I think Osaka winning would be bigger for the game in terms of long term marketing etc (plus she will have two consecutive slam wins if she does it), but happy whoever wins

On this occasion for me heart says Kvitova, but I hope that in terms of a spectacle the match up is all that it seems it could be!

general i like rallies this match only had one point with a >=10 shot rally
but i still loved it
not the match i thought it would be but compeling twistty and momentum shifting drama courage frailty redemption skill for 2½ hours
