A bit disappointing, twice now she's failed to qualify to a 15k main draw despite being top seed in qualifying.

It takes a while to get going in these and Ali hasn't played much recently - remember how long it took Emilie to get her 3rd counter.

I don't think being top seed in qualifying really counts for anything when you're only ranked 1100 or whatever.

Only 5 ranked players in qualifying. Ali was 4th alt on the final acceptance list, so having just got a ranking she jumped up some 26 places up the list for seeding. So nothing between most of those players. Would have been nice to get some ITF points on the board for future entries though.

She got 1 ITF point for reaching the FQR. I think her total is now 10.

Admittedly I know nothing about the 2 opponents she lost to, I was mainly meaning it's a bit disappointing going from winning main draw 25k matches and narrowly losing 4 and 3 (only one extra break in each set) to Rus only 4 weeks ago to not coming through 15k quals, especially when she has been around top 60 in the junior rankings and we don't get many that high, particularly in the women's side.

Yes, just the one point - a few more would have helped with entries though. Both her last two losing matches have been pretty close though.

Indeed. The more points the better. With only 19 direct acceptance places in 15K qualifying and more higher ranked players being squeezed out of 25Ks to 15Ks, I think it is going to be very hard for those in the bottom half of the ITF rankings to get entry to tournaments.

With 2 existing counters - 1 point from Shrewsbury 25k and another from Glasgow 25k - Ali re-enters the doubles rankings on 17/12 biggrin

Getting a top 500 partner is a good start.
