Well done Jamie and Bruno, and a rest day ahead.

Meanwhile Thiem beats nishikori which knocks Kei out after beating Federer first match. And yet from my maths Federer now qualifies if he wins a set against Anderson or 6 games (which will take him ahead on games percentage). So tonight is all about maths. And if fed beats Anderson of course, he wins the group as well.

So, as far as I can tell the singles semis are set - Zverev beat Isner in 2 sets which means he is 4-2 sets wise. If CIlic beats Djoko in 2 sets, Zverev, Djoko and Cilic will be all on 2 wins. In that case , Zverev and Djoko will have 4-2 sets record, Cilic can get 4-3 sets record so he is out. IF Djoko loses 6-0 6-0 to Cilic, then he will 24-24 on games, or 50% and Zverev has finished on 49% plus, lower than 50%. So Cilic is out and Djoko cannot fall below Zverev.

So it makes tonights match sort of pointless apart from cash and points on offer. Wonder if Cilic will play or give an alt his place, presumably he will play. Djoko of course has to play but it wouldnt surprise me if he loses.

Tomorrow therefore will be Federer v Zverev and Djoko v Anderson. As Djoko is playing tonight presumably he will be on tomorrow evening as well with Federer and Zverev taking the BBC afternoon spot, which will please the Beeb I fancy

well, there you go, great minds etc !

Do they say on twitter how the doubles pairings will match up? With Bryan and Sock playing tonight, I presume they will also go on tomorrow evening and Jamie and Bruno will be on first in the afternoon tomorrow?

No they, haven't announced the doubles yet. If Herbert and Mahut can beat Bryan and Sock in straight sets, they could top the group, so one pair would have to play in the afternoon.
(They'd both be 2-1 and 4-3 in sets, so down to games)

I think Herbert and Mahut would win the group if they beat Bryan and Sock  - as it is only 2 pairs tied they go on head to head first which would be H & M. The other pairs only have 1 win each.

But youre right, both pairs could top the group so presumably they will wait and see. Obviously if Bryan and Sock win the match, then the 3 way tie for 2nd place will go down to sets and games as appropriate. If H&M win a set they are through on sets countback in 2nd place; if they lose in 2 sets, then I believe they need to win 7 games to get through. So looks like they should be favourites to make it alongside Bryan and Sock whichever way it goes - Kubot and Melo are definitely out however it plays out.

Herbert and Mahut win first set 6-2. Which means they are now through, just need to see who wins group.

I'd have wagered before on them winning first set and Bryan amd Sock coming through to win match in MTB. Call me cynical.

Edit - got that wrong as H and m are 5-2 up second set. Looks like Jamie and Bruno will play Bryan and sock?

Watching the Isner vs Zverev match and wondering how tall is too tall for a male tennis player ? Obviously height is an advantage when serving and I think there's a strong positive correlation between number of aces and height but what about height and return points won? Isner just looks too tall :0)
