Interesting that they elected not to play Shrewsbury, which is reasonably local for them. They are clearly chasing points...

They only withdrew from Shrewsbury yesterday - but they were way down the alt list anyway, so the chance of getting in was pretty slim. They were shown on the entry list as unranked, which would put them no higher than 25th alt. They had withdrawn from Sharm a week ago, so the QWC's and a bye in a weak draw are a bonus.

A - Pitak the Younger is losing her singles ranking this week.

B - Have they had their limit on Wildcards?

I'm guessing they weren't offered a qwc for Shrewsbury and rang Sharm up and said can we come?

much to admire in the atitude about wanting to keep playing and then to take the initative to make sure you can rather than sulking that you didnt get your 1st choise

Good for them. If Ola can pick up one point here, then she at least regains her WTA ranking until the transition tour kicks in... And as witnessed in Shrewsbury, it matters a lot still on current acceptance lists. I've seen the same for Mandy C. She badly needs points in the 15k she's entered into this week, since thereafter everybody and their aunt is ahead of her in the alt lists, even for 15ks.

2 more ITF points for each of the Pitaks, but tough draw for Ola.

Yes unfortunate that for Ola, who is the one that needs another counter to get her current WTA ranking back.

Ola is holding in there for now. On serve, a break a piece. *3-4.

And a DF from her opponent gives Ola the first set on a TB 7-6(5)

What tough match? Ola wins 7-6(5) 6-3.

That must be a new CH win?

Not quite ! Previous best was over Eden Silva WR516 at Chiswick this year in QR1 (Eden retired though 6-4 2-1)

Well done to Ola on such a good win and on being ranked again.

Ola and Ali Collins ( in Shrewsbury ) will now take our year end WTA ranked players to a minimum of 31, continuing a bit of a push over the last couple of months. From Steven's stats that seems to be about the year end going rate. Indeed I see that at the end of 2013 it was just 29. Hopefully Mandy Carreras for one can yet make that 32.

Then we come to 2019 and all that, the well you did have a WTA ranking but ...

Just to add some mega congrats to Ola - she's a feisty, gritty little player - always fun to see her p**s off her opponent.

And well done to the Pitak family for some clever tournament picking....
