Good to see Fran in a 60K and she couldn't have hoped for a better draw.
R32: [4] Naomi Broady GBR 204 vs qualifier R32: Tara Moore GBR 448 vs [6] Jessika Ponchet FRA 221 (CH 211 6/8/18) R32: Francesca Jones GBR 416 vs [WC] Carson Branstine CAN 795 =CH
naomi and ayaka okuno were top seed but lost to sebov/kostova ranked a combine >700 places below them
6.10 in the mtb from a set up to
silver lineing - singles gotta be better than that bleh
It's probably not even a banana skin to be honest. Broady has already lost twice (in straight sets) this year to promising juniors. Both were a little older than Lopa and further ahead in their development, but given Naomi's 2018, the young'un will more than fancy her chances.
Goes without saying, but she really could do with a run to at least the SF here or her AO quals position is under serious threat. Her 3 highest points in the past 12 month are 57 30 and 29 (x3) and the 57 and a 29 are coming off in the next few weeks.
Sad to see how far Tara has fallen. Likewise, Naomi I guess. I see the bookies have it very close between Naomi and the promising 15 year old, with Broady a very slight favourite.
Tara seems to be flying around the world playing random big events.
Would make more sense to play some easy 15k's, get some wins and confidence.
She's not really playing random events. She's obviously following her wife, which makes sense as Conny's ranking is that much higher. And they're playing doubles together. And maybe Conny plays better when Tara's there, so it makes sense when looked at results of the pair as a total. Or, even if she doesn't, that's part of their life in common. There are lots of reasons her tournament picks might make sense in the bigger picture, it's not just about her individual results.

A) Are they married now? Missed that!
B) Travelling together, playing together etc means that they are also splitting the costs. Whereas if Conny was playing here and Tara in a smaller tournament then that's double the cost.
I wouldn't say Tara has been flying around the world as she has been playing in North America for the last month. And apart from a home tournament in Switzerland at the end of her summer break that is all she has played on the tour since the end of July. It may have been more beneficial for her to have gone with Conny to Lagos at the beginning of this month instead of the playing the US tournaments.
