Great to see Mandy in that weak 15k in Gran Canaria. She's currently at M4 in the list, with the top seed WR662, so stands a good chance of getting some matches and points.
I see Mandy has settled down for a 15k now, in which she will be seeded. She withdrew from a 25k in Italy and 60k in Spain next week, for which she might have scraped in as an alt - she was in similar positions on both Alt lists when she withdrew yesterday. Mandy needs points and counters now though, as she loses two in October, and if she does not replace those will lose her ranking altogether. Hence it's probably sensible of her to go for this 15k, and let's hope some easier matches for her, and her wrist, which it would seem is still rehabbing. She has one more counter coming off in November, so needs 2 more counters or 10+ points by then. For next year though, these 15k points won't be helpful to her to retain a WTA ranking, so I'm sure if she can guarantee her ranking for now, she'd like to be able to move back up to the 25k level soon, if she can put some points on her board as it were.
Edit: And see I was writing my post at the same time the addict was posting on Mandy too!

It might be a good strategy to play in some 15Ks this year as if she can go deep in them she could then bypass 25K qualifying next year by getting directly into the main draw through the reserved places for top transition tour players. It would make it easier for her to build her ranking back up to where her level is if she wasn't expending energy to get through qualifying. With 24 draw qualifying as well it is going to be slightly more difficult to get into 25Ks unless there is an increase in tournaments.
Thanks Michael for providing the info I was too lazy to look up !
I see that Mandy's five counters are all from 25k's, but just a single point remaining after November.
A string of last minute withdrawals has moved Tiff into the main draw in Lagos, which will give her the third counter she needs for a year end ranking.
Mandy has withdrawn today. She has also withdrawn from the 25K in week 41. I do hope she's OK.

Hmmm, that means Mandy has suffered a reaction from those first two very long matches, and it's taking considerable time for her wrist to settle down again. She's not in a good situation though. If she doesn't pick up further points during October she will lose her ranking, but at the moment, even if she does regain it, she is going to have a lowly ranking on the transition tour next year, which means it's likely going to take her time even to get back up again to the 25k level. I really hope her wrist IS recovering.
Not sure if doubles is included on here but Dom Inglot is playing with Franko Skugor in the Japan ATP 500 as is Joe Salisbury and Jamie Murray with Bruno. Poor Dom has tweeted that the airline has lost his rackets!

Dom wasn't flying BA was he? Jamie tweeted not that long ago about them losing his rackets several times recently (they are no longer carry on).

Yes it was BA. He rather quickly got someone, presumably from BA PR, asking for details so they can resolve it! A few fans had piled in empathising in the meantime.

Yes...well hopefully that solves it but it seems more of an ongoing BA issue in general.
