Well, that's magnificent from Mandy, just a Q1 won, but 1 point gained for the first time this year, and to her it must seem a very sweet triumph after all her wrist issues. She'll play Christiana Fernando (ITA) [q7] 480 next.

Mandy is returning just in time to save her ranking. This 1 pt replaces one dropping off to keep her points tally at 17, then she loses another 5 pts, later in Sept, 10 in October, and the last point in mid Nov. Let's just hope her wrist holds up now.

So pleased to see Mandy back. Yudanov is a solid $15k player so a good test for her first match back. Also pleased to see the level of ambition in Mandys scheduled return - opting to pick up where she left off (pre-Pelham injury rather than the first aborted return).

Yes, great to see Mandy back and we still need one more player to guarantee a year-end ranking, or Steven will end the year with a less than fully populated women's top 25 table.

So certainly hope Mandy for one can now help out ... ( though maybe not the main thing on her mind

)

Tara on clay for me is a no-no but maybe today she just had an exceptionally bad day

Amanda got off to a better start against the 7th seed but then she always was a clay court specialist 1-0*
