DL Raynes Park look strong considering their other two players are Jamie Baker and Joshua Goodall. Only beat North Oxford 10-0. What's the format? Round Robin?
Is this why Jonny O'M didn't sign in for US Open doubles. Teams with combined ranking of 300+ were getting in as alternates.
In the end. Though Luke & Arneodo ( with Luke having apparently moved on from Jonny ) were initially only alternates and Arneodo is currently only one place lower ranked than Jonny ( and I think higher at entry date ). So clearly it was just latterly that the alternate figure went out really far and Jonny would have needed a partner with a higher entry ranking than Luke ( currently WR 76 ) and even more ahead of himself ( currently WR 86 ) to have been sure of getting in.
I think the rule of thumb is CR 150 for Slams initial entry and that looks about what it was here. I don't know how unusual it is for the cut to end massively out from that after withdrawals. But maybe he would have say wanted a partner at least in the 80s to even wait in hope, especially if he had no other particular North American plans?
If he could have an apparently good chance then yes big case for taking that chance.
