Week 35 - Challenger - Rafa Nadal Open Banc Sabadell, Mallorca, Spain (€43,000+H) (hard)

QR1:  (q2) David Pérez (ESP) WR 338 (CH = 216 in June 2016) vs Lloyd Glasspool WR 443 (CH = 282 in July 2016)
QR1:  Riccardo Bellotti (ITA) WR 474 (CH = 199 in May last year) vs (qWC) Jake Hersey UNR

Edit:  amending the currency - the live scoreboard quotes the prize money in dollars, so I followed that on Saturday, but the draw sheets both show it in euros.

Apart from the fact that he turned 18 in May, I've no idea.  Doubtless CD, paulisi or, conceivably, Oakland will be able to provide a little more background detail, though.  That said, I've seen his name in the frame in various Futures competitions in recent months.

It's quite odd to see Rafa's name there when he is still an active player (even though I totally get why).

Trains in Mallorca at Nadal's academy. From the Midlands - talented junior.

His scoreline against the world 474 was pretty close, looks promising

Clearly bellotti was softened up by his previous British opponent. The old one two.

Yes, and great that they've both got their ranking back up high enough so they can get straight into challies.

FQR:  Lloyd Glasspool WR 443 vs Tim van Rijthoven (NED) WR 507 (CH = 296 in October 2016)

The Dutchman has just seen off the Turkish q8, Çelikbilek, by 3 & 2, but I hope that's a chance for Lloyd to qualify.
