Oh dear lord, what is this mess, Andy? You're going to be served a bagel.

If Kyle can get through R2, his likely opponent would have been Nadal, but the BBC are reporting the Nadal has now withdrawn. The draw sheet has not yet been updated but I expect some lucky loser is going to get a Bye straight into R2.

We should also note that Raonic is in that section of the draw and would be Kyle's most likely R3 opponent, so it's not going to be easy anyway.

And that LL is Malek Jaziri.

Pouille settled for a breadstick but Andy has a 3-1 lead in the second

And for good measure, an insurance break *4-1

Hmmm, wonder if Andy would get a WC for Winston Salem?

L56:  (16) Lucas Pouille (FRA) WR 17 defeated (WC) Andy Murray WR 375 by 6-1 1-6 6-4  cry

It will be interesting to hear Andy's thoughts on how he played in that encounter.

from what I've read, Andy seems quite relaxed, commenting that he was only 4 points off Pouille over the match and with another ten or fifteen percent improvement he would be winning at this level.

Seems ok about it.

Yes, at this stage not quite good enough. But getting there. And I think systems are go for the US Open, close as it is, whereas I never felt that for Wimbledon.

Yes, Pouille, that has not beaten a top 50 player at an ATP event since February.  Pouille's form has been really bad recently, so cannot read anything into this, is a bit like Murray beating Liam Broady.

Andy will do well to be ever be a top 20 player again. This hip does not look good.

Certainly Pouille's form has been a bit off recently if splitting hairs he did beat Seppi ( WR 49 then and now ) in Rome in May since 3 top 50 wins on the way to the Dubai final in the late February / early March week. Better up to and including that week and he lies #25 in the race.

Anyway, re Andy, who knows, slowly getting better and as I said I think that he will compete at the US Open.

I think at the top margins are so thin. Players like fed win maybe 55 percent of points and dominate the game. I think Andy is a good and critical judge of his game and where it's at. If he wins 48 percent of points v Pouille and a ten percent to fifteen percent improvement takes that to wining 50-55 then he is actually back up there and winning big matches. I don't think we will truly be able to judge Andy until Australian open. I think he will play us open, maybe play 2 weeks in Asia and 2 in Europe post us open (anyone know any propose schedule?)  and then lock down for a big push in Oz

Thanks for looking. I can find a report often on tennis forums for the higher ranked players, but nothing for Cam this time. It's just weird, Cam has been palying so well, and the guy he played is 27, so not an up and coming youngster.

But he's the guy that Andy Murray had an extremely long +3 hr match after midnight in DC, and then withdrew after that. So his current form isn't too shabby at the moment, even though he lost in Toronto qualifying, probably because he was still recovering from that match himself.

I didn't realise that. Well that makes me more relaxed about Cam's form then.

Cam in entry list for shenzen week after DC tie.
