 I'm guessing that's exactly how the wild cards were dished out.. Basically to the biggest draw star's and their nations, who would commit at this time. In principal at least, if fit etc. I think Leon sort of hints at these discussions with GB players.

Totally disagree with the WC thing. If a nation didn't qualify on merit, it has no business to be there. Moreover it may become a blocker for minor nations, elitist.

If it flops now though there is now a contract to resolve, which wasn't there in the past.. So they would have to declare bankruptsy or settle commercially to wrestle it back but what of the money. How can they now start to back track on this. Surely they must have to honour some figures contractually..

 and remembering that Djokovic is President of the Players Council which I believe is the players body within the ATP and therefore he has to support the APT route in reality from a political perspective...
