It is brilliant, but she's only in the alts list, at 36, so needs a fair few to drop out if she's going to get into qualifying.

Not sure she's serious about playing yet - she'd have gone for the Swiss 15K on clay - but she withdrew confuse

Mandy is entered again for a range of tournaments the following week 2, her priorities again the 25ks. I agree I'm not sure she she serious about the Braunschweig tournament... however looking at next week's Leipzig tournament in Germany and the final entry list there, Mandy would be in qualifying. For Braunschweig, at 34 on the alt list now she certainly still has a way to go.

For USO entry, what date ranking do they use? Katie B would be in on her current ranking, but not last week's.

6 weeks before, I think. It was almost immediately after Wimbledon.

Grand Slam entry deadline is 6 weeks before for main draw and 4 weeks before for qualifying

Yes, not to be for the US Open ( Katie B is WR 117 on the entry list ) where she will join our big qualifying group. But Australian Open MD is a good and very achievable aim for her and a stretch target for others.

Thanks, I see, shame, but I can understand why. Ah well, I guess she'll have a high seeding in qualies. Unless she has a totally disastrous rest of year, I can't see her not getting into the AO MD.

Katie collected quite a lot of points last autumn, over 100, so she'll need to defend/improve on that to make the AO MD. Plenty of time though !

Ok....but who actually calls them that? Eve their respective websites as WTA and ATP

Yes, but with her new ranking, she'll be able to enter tournaments with higher points, so I'm optimistic.
