I actually had to laugh when I saw this as otherwise the exasperation would get the better of me LOL

The Daily Express is now saying that they feel 'betrayed' because the EU is not including the UK in the latest EU scheme. It relates to the EU's new plans for an integrated transport rail network.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would read this paper and take it seriously. The hypocrisy is off the scale.

Yesterday marked four years to the day since the UK ceased to be a member of the EU. The London Evening Standard published this interesting (IMHO) article as part of its coverage of the (sad) occasion.

I've been told that there are no more meat products being imported from the UK, which means no more Fray Bentos Steak & Kidney for me. I don't know how I will survive. furious

It's double the supermarket prices here. Have a look on Amazon - could be cheaper, £2 for 425g over here.

My favourite French anchovies are now £7.50 here in the UK

They used to be £4.50, and are about £3 in France

£7.50 !!!! For little fish that should be as cheap as chips......

As part of the plan to take back control of the border and not be subject to EU regs, we've taken about 3 years of allowing anything and everything into the country with no specific checks at all (because it was all going to be a nightmare, so it kept getting put back)

Officials have informed the government though that illegal meat imports seem to have been a major problem (unfit for consumption and carrying countless diseases which risk outbreaks at farmers' livestock). They havent' been able to stop them much of it (we haven't been checking them sysematically) but it's been noted as they go through and there have been some sudden sweep checks which have confiscated big amounts, which shows how much more there must be.

Now, as of Tuesday, we're finally putting in proper checks - but it's a 22 mile drive from Dover to the check facility.

What could go wrong???

I mean, it's not like the illegal meat importers would have someone waiting 10 miles along the route and get rid of all the dodgy meat before they hit the check, now, is it? Or take 'numerous other routes', to avoid the check process, as the GB Cold Chain Federation boss said.

Oh, and to top it all, the government are cutting the checking facilities' funding by 70%, according to the Dover Port Health Authority

It's so frustrating. I wish the people having to pay for all these additional costs were just those who voted for this nonsense.

Unfortunately we have to pay the blooming Brexit tax whether we wanted it or not.

I'm trying to send a package to a bereaved friend in Portugal. It's proving impossible because no-one will send them from the UK because of customs' restrictions/costs. Gee thanks...

Yes :(

My niece's Asian computer company has now moved its whole logistic operations to the Netherlands. Just impossible to run the European arm in the UK as they used to. The UK people have lost their jobs. Only a small sales force is being kept here (and that's only while the current sales manager is still here and doesn't want to move). As soon as he leaves, for whatever reason, they'll move it all over.
