Week 24 - ITF ($100k) - Manchester, Grass

There is plenty of light up north until 9pm.
Probably another shower.

It is indeed rather light in central Scotland.

Although I'll always support the 'true Brit' if the two play, I also support the peskies who are based and live in Britain.

They form an important part of our tennis industry: employ coaches; act as hitting partners and friends for 'our' players; inspire youngsters; and generally put money, skill and expertise into GB's tennis to flesh it out, which it is sorely in need of.

As such, well done to Eva Siska (now a local Bolton girl), Mariam Bolkvadze (been in England most of her teenage years, if not more, and is very 'British') and Lily Miyazaki, based at Sutton (I think) for all of her teenage years and a good friend to many of the GB girls.

And to Nadja Gilchrist too, who is or has been based with Team Bath.

Tx, Michael, and apologies to Nadja for forgetting her. But, yes, her as well - and, indeed, any others who've slipped the net.

Victoria Allen continues to impress leading 6-3, 1-0

Eden Richardson lost first set 6-1 but leads 2-0 in the second

and poor Summer Yardley is already 6-0, 5-0 down

I'm assuming it's to be finished once Eden's match is over.
