Worth noting that Gabi and Katie B are in the qualifying list, Harriet, Katie D. Katie S and Laura are high on the alt list.
Plus 13 other ranked players, and loads of unranked Brits who won't get in
I would expect Gabi, Katie B, Harriet, Katy and Katie S to share the MDWCs between here and Nottingham.
Question - when there are two competing events at a level they would normally be interested in (Nottingham at $250k and Manchester at $100k) then presumably both events will offer wild cards to the same cohort? How would they decide a) would the LTA work out a strategy b) would the players express a preference and c) which would be better - taking a Nottingham WC and maybe losing early but with chance of big bucks if things go well or Manchester where the chances of getting a few wins is better but less big gains to be made compared to Nottingham?

Based on years of evidence to the contrary and in a far broader sense then you intended I would say the answer is no.
There will be a strategy in who gets asked first for the WTA wildcard, but the players will also get a say to choose which event they prefer.
I think Katie B will play Nottingham as a MDWC and Freya will take a QWC as it is their local event.
Interesting that very few of the entries played last year. I'm not sure if that is an indication of the quality in the field last year or the tournament(I though it was popular...) Anyway I'm there all week...
One other thing to note - qualifying was quite weak and lots of Brits got in and a few got some soft points.
I'm pretty sure Sam Murray, if she is fit, will get a qwc if she needs it as she is a local girl and I think Beth will get a qwc as she is reasonably local.

You'd think / hope so. She and Boulter were always 2 obvious candidates for Nottingham with Broady being a main focal point of Manchester and the fact she is still on the Subiton list would indicate it's not due to physical issues. Let's hope so anyway.
