Week 19 - ITF ($15K) - Sajur, Israel - Hard

Well, I guess Emilie has made some progress this week, because for next week she gets a bye in QR1! There are only 4 QR1 matches, the rest are byes. Amelia gets one too, and Nell Miller should be back in the MD again. So two wins needed for Emilie this week to get a ranking...

QR1: Amelia STUART (GBR) vs BYE

QR1: Emilie LIND GALLAGHER (GBR) UNR 18yrs vs BYE

MD out but the final four qualifying results still not in. Like Emile LG, Nell also just needs one more counter to gain a WTA ranking (even if Nell has just 2 pts to Emilie's 6 pts). Would be wonderful if they could both make this their week for getting on the list.

Not an easy start for Nell, but not insurmountable.

R32: Nell MILLER (GBR) UNR 18yrs (JCH:185 Jan 17) vs Elena-Teodora CADAR (ROU) [7] 859 (CH:346 Oct 14)

Pleased to see Emilie come through that tough match there and make the MD again. Hope she gets the chance now to pick up that last counter...
Not so good for Amelia unfortunately.

FQR: STUART, Amelia (GBR) UNR lost to YADAV, Mihika (IND) UNR CH=870 6/2/17 18yo JCH=32 2-6 1-6
FQR: LINDH GALLAGHER, Emilie (GBR) UNR beat ORLOVA, Natalie (RUS) UNR CH=224 2009 6-4 7-5

Well, Emilie has a much better chance here than Nell of getting that precious third counter. Nell is up tomorrow, Emilie will wait until Tuesday for her opportunity.

Youve got to think Emilie should get on the board with a draw like that. Good luck

Not so fast! GB are 1-3 against Tahan in 2018.
Only Olivia Nicholls managed the win, in Ramat Hasharon, week 11 - and needed two TB to do it.
Otherwise straight sets defeats for Olivia Sonnekus-Williams, Amelia Stuart, and a ranked and seeded Ella Taylor; that last being arguably the best analogue for where Emilie might currently be in terms of level.

Tahan lost to Lina Glushko, the eventual winner, 6-1 6-1 in the first round last week, so I guess that doesn't tell us too much. She did however win the doubles with Madeleine Kobelt (USA). I think the match with Emilie could be interesting and close, but I certainly think Emilie is capable of grabbing that last counter if she plays as well as she did last week.

What can I say, Im a positive guy. 2/3 wins can be disregarded, like you say Ella Taylor is probably the only one that is capable of winning matches.

Don't write off Nell. If my memory is correct, Cadar's CH was based from soft points at Sharm. I think Nell is capable of winning this

Nell's match should be just about to start, was scheduled for 11.30am UK time and won't go over as the preceding match on Court 4 has just ended 6-0 6-0.
